Family and Naming Ceremonies
CELEBRATE EVERY MEMBER.
The arrival of a child has always been a cause for celebration.
Why not welcome a new member of your family into the world or your community with something special?
Family ceremonies are perfect for a wide range of occasions where you want to celebrate the people closest to you. From the birth of a baby to the joining of two families, I can help you commemorate every milestone.

Naming Ceremonies
Introduce your child to the world with a ceremony that celebrates their name and your family.

What is a Naming Ceremony?
A naming ceremony, also known as a naming day, is a celebration of a child, their name, their family, and their future. You might think of it as a formal introduction of your child to your community, or just a chance to throw a party to honour and appreciate the latest addition to your family.
What does a Naming Ceremony involve?
Many naming ceremonies include an introduction, announcement of the child’s full name, and perhaps some background about the family and their journey. Some parents will make promises or share hopes for the child’s future, and other significant adults, or ‘guideparents’, may also make commitments.
As with many ceremonies, name ceremonies can involve a symbolic ritual. This might include candle-lighting, a sand ceremony with parents and siblings, planting a tree, creating a hand or footprint piece of art, or signing a certificate.
Naming ceremonies can take many shapes and forms, and as your celebrant, I can personalise the experience to suit your family and story. If you’ve been to a christening before, you might think of this ceremony as a non-religious, inclusive alternative.

Who is a Naming Ceremony for?
Naming ceremonies are often held for new babies, but there’s no age limit on them. You might want to wait until your child is a toddler to welcome them into your family with an event, or use a naming ceremony as a rite of passage for your child to mark the start of their journey into adulthood.

Celebrations of family
adoption
Ceremonies
An adoption ceremony is very similar to a naming ceremony, and celebrates the addition of a new child to your family. It’s a wonderful way to mark the occasion of growing your family.
Blended
Families
Blended families come in all shapes and sizes. Whatever is bringing your new family together, a ceremony can be a wonderful way to commemorate the occasion.
Re-naming Ceremonies
If your child has chosen a new name for themselves, a re-naming ceremony is a wonderful way to affirm this decision and re-introduce them to your community.
